Education for Children & Young People
NLS has a thriving Religion School that has the aim of providing a warm and friendly environment for all our children, promoting Jewish values through participation in a fun environment. Its sessions are on Sunday mornings and run from 10.00am to 12.30pm, with terms are set around Nottingham's mainstream school terms. Children are encouraged to enrol from age 6 and their Cheder education concludes with Kabbalat Torah and GCSE Jewish Studies 10 years later! For those approaching bar/bat mitzvah there is a dedicated class and individual celebrants are assigned to a tutor for intense preparation leading up to their big day.
The community organises short weekend camps and there is the annual Kadimah children's and teens summer camp as well as opportunities for group visits to places of Jewish interest. Congregational days also include activities for the younger members of the community.
