2013 Mitzvah Day Review

How lovely was this year’s Mitzvah day! First of all, Karen Worth led a lively assembly for Cheder on the meaning of Mitzvah. Then the children, teachers and other adults walked up to Sycamore House Residential Home. We sang three songs to the gathered residents, including two Hebrew songs and “Any Dream Will Do”.

Then the children broke into groups of two or three and had conversations with the residents. Some of the children had prepared questions ahead of time and talked about things like - what life was like when the residents were their age, World War II, families and much more.

There was a real buzz in the room and several children asked if they could come back again. The residents asked for a second rendition of “Any Dream Will Do”. Many bags full of groceries were also collected for the NG7 Food Bank.
