Hate Crime Survey Feedback
Thirteen of us from Nottingham Liberal Synagogue went to the launch of Nottingham Citizens campaign against 'hate crime' which was held at St. Nicholas' Church on Maid Marian Way on June 9th. It was an impressively well organised event, high energy and very clear in its process.
Four Individual speakers testified as to their experience of hate crime (including a muslim woman, a man with learning difficulties and a Black African minister). We, the audience, related what they said to our own experience. Pledges were obtained from: the Police & Crime Commissioner, the Chief Constable and the City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Safety to expose the frequency of such attacks, and to work with the Citizens Commisioners. The testimonies were very powerful and vivid and delivered with controlled emotion.
Citizens’ Hate Crime Commission is continuing to collect data until the end of July, and it is REALLY important as many responses as possible, are collected. It is also important to have a reasonable number of Jews responding in the survey.
EVEN IF YOU HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY HATE CRIME, PLEASE COMPLETE THE SURVEY ON-LINE. We are constantly being asked to do surveys, but it doesn’t take more than 5 minutes, and this really could make a difference.
This is your way to DO YOUR BIT, so please do it now!!
Then on Thursday October 9th 6.30pm there will be a large meeting to feedback the results of the survey and to make recommendations for change. Itd be great to have a good turnout for that meeting, so put the date in your diary.
